Toaster Cozy

Yes, the title is correct. I have knit a cozy, or cover, for my toaster. I searched and searched for a pattern and could not find one, so I made it up as I went along. My toaster is not the regular rectangular type, more curvy. That made it more of a challange, but I was up for that challenge!

Here are the specs:

Yarn: Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece, Cavern
Needles: US size 4 and 5

Cast on 35 stitches with size 4 needle
knit in stockinette 8 inches
slip 1st stitch every row
Bind off

Pickup all around with size 5 circular putting stitch markers in the corners
knit 1 row plain
knit with increase (KFB) before and after marker
alternate these 2 rows
for 4 inches, then stop increasing

knit in pattern (keep the purls for a faux seam)
until side measures 7.5 inches

2X2 ribbing for 1 inch size 4 needle
Bindoff

WHY?
So, why make a toaster cozy?
Someone might answer, because I can.
But I made mine for a very practical reason.
I keep my toaster on the counter near the stove. And when I make spaghetti sauce, it sometimes bubbles and pops out of the pot when I lift the lid. I hate it when it gets in the toaster. It is hard to clean down in there and if you don't get it all out, the next time you make toast it smokes! I hate that!

Logical right?
I didn't make it because I love my toaster too much!
But I have been accused of that by the ladies at knit group - LOL.

Custom Wall Unit

Ben from Crazy Monkey Creations made me this magnificent custom wall unit. It is truly a work of art and very functional as well. This lovely piece is in the "knitting room" to hold knitting books, tools, and, of course, lots of yarn. It is so much better than I ever could have imagined! Thank you Ben!



It didn't take me too long to start filling it up!
