Enjoy the Feast

Appetizer
What is your favorite herb or spice?

I really like to season my food while cooking. My favorite would be Basil I guess if I had to pick just one!

Name a song you like but haven't heard in a long time.

Bed of Roses by Bon Jovi

Salad
If you were to take just one minute to write down as many things as you can think of that you need (not want) to do, approximately how many things would there be?

about a dozen, I am going to have a busy weekend!

Main Course
Tell something interesting about one of your family members (nothing scandalous, please, just something unique).
When my uncle was in the military he was stationed on Guam. My DH is from Guam. Is that weird? Most people have never even heard of Guam.

What's the latest you've ever stayed awake?
I was in the military, so I have done my share of all nighters.

Appreciation

My DH really liked his LumberJack socks! He showed them off at knit group on Saturday and at the BBQ on Sunday. I had to tell him to take them off and put them in the wash! I promised my wonderful enabler that there will be more socks in his size. And here they are! His second pair already!

Blue Stripe socks

Specs:
Magic Stripes #202 Sea Blue Pattern
64 stitches on KP #1 (2.5mm)
7 inches btwn toe and heel
3 inch 1X1 ribbing

And Majc had to model them again! This time on her head!

Majc wearing socks

And he has another manly pair on the needles already!

Denim Stripe

This is called Stonewashed Blue Pattern. Why? Someone please explain this to me! Was the laundresses washing the yarn on the stone and cut her finger and bled on the blue? I would have named it something like "Liberty" or "Patriot Blue".... What would you call it?

I have not forgotten the Koigu socks, they will get some attention tonight after dinner!

Is it Socktober Yet?

I have started Socktoberfesting and planning. Cable socks, feather and fan socks, the perfect yarns. But today I only have one word for socks and that word is Koigu..... I am in Love! Head over heels, really!! I was swept off my feet with unbridled infatuation!

Koigu KPPPM P714

This is Koigu KPPPM #714 that I found at Estes Park. My first Koigu. Maybe that is why I am almost speechless at its beauty! Its uniqueness! No stripes, no pooling, so unlike any other yarn. Could this be The Perfect Sock Yarn? (Sigh)

So I had to cast on with it! How could it have sat in my stash so long untouched! This yarn really wants to be socks! It has to be socks! Once on the needles I could hardly contain my joy!

Cute Puppy Pic, Feasting, and Sock Love

Majc wearing LumberJack socks

Majc tried to make off with the LumberJack socks! I think she likes handknit socks too! Actually she was really good about posing. She is so cute! She must know how cute she is because I always tell her! What a good girl!!

It is time again for Friday's Feast!

Appetizer
Measured in minutes or hours, how much exercise have you had in the last week?
2 1/2 hours

Soup
If you had to change your blog title to something else, what would it be?
I like my blog title. I was first refered to as "Blogless MJ" by Kathy, and that's special.

Salad
Name one television show you watched when you were 9-12 years old.
Little House on the Prairie, I still watch it!

Main Course
If someone gave you $50 to spend with the one condition that it had to be educational, what would you purchase?
It would have to be books of some kind, all reading is good!

Dessert
Do you tend to prefer dark colors, neutral shades, or lighter/pastel hues?
I like them all! I am all over the color wheel! Knitting has really opened my eyes to lots of colors and combinations!

Now for some sock love!
I joined Socktoberfest - it is a celebration of socks! I am all for that!! It is described as "not your typical knitalong" and that's good too, something different. Felicia wrote a good post about it here. So grab some yarn, some needles and let's have fun with socks!!

Now There are Two

LumberJack socks

The LumberJack socks are done and my DH adores them!

Baby Hat Books

Then I got some Zooba love! Some of these hats are so cute I may have to resize them!
hehe!!

Then I needed some soothing after my doctor's appointment. We were there for four hours for testing - ugh! I needed a yarn fix! Retail therapy cures a lot of things - especially fiber retail therapy! In nice shades of purple and green. I feel better now :)

Cotton Fleece

Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece
Peridot, Jungle Green, Prosperous Plum, Prairie Lupine

I was thinking Moss Grid Hand Towels from Mason Dixon.

BTW, today is my one month blogiversary!! 25 posts in one month! WOW! and I didn't think I had anything to say.....

Breaking News!

One Sock Done!!

LumberJack sock

Here is my Sweetheart proudly wearing his first handknit sock!! The sock love is just flying off the needles!!

Specs:
Magic Stripes - Lumberjack Black Pattern #206
64 stitches on KP #1 (2.5mm)
7 inches btwn toe and heel
3 inch 1X1 ribbing

Mid Week Update

I love these socks! And I know that my DH will like them too! They are taking a little longer to knit for the obvious reason - they are bigger!

LumberJack socks

Closeup LumberJack socks

And don't they just make you want to break out the flannel shirts? Just in time for early fall! I enjoy the changing of the seasons here in Colorado! And Autumn is my favorite season!

I have also been working on Blueberries. The bad thing about rectangle shawls, it looks the same, only longer. I am enjoying this pattern, even more after I switched to Knit Picks Options needles for this project. The pointy tips help in purling 3 together and knit, purl, knit in one stitch. As I mentioned in my last post I am using two strands of Handpainted laceweight held together. But I did not mention that they are two different colors, blue and purple, that is what gives it the blueberry look.

Blueberries Shawl

My DH joined us for knit group this past Saturday. He made some cute stitch markers. But we all forgot to take pictures! He really likes to make "knitting jewelry" for us! So I suggested trying colored jump rings as an added touch. I found this website and ordered him some of these jump rings to try out in different colors and sizes. I think he will really like them! And yes, I will bring them to knit group when I get them.

Colored Jump Rings

So, besides knitting, we have been catching up on Lost. The new season starts in two weeks and I am excited! So we are re-watching Season 2. We do not watch too much television, but we do like this show. I haven't really had a favorite tv show since Friends.

I guess that's all for now.

What's on Your Needles?

Kathy asked that I show what I have on the needles. I can take a dare! I have a basket next to the couch where I keep some WIP's (work in progress). And some were on the couch, in my knitting bag, another knitting bag...... Ok, I didn't know that I had so many. We all like to start things! I look at some of these and think, time for the frog pond (rip it, rip it). There are definitely things that I will never finish. Some are even, Why did I start this, what was I thinking?

So here we go in no particular order:

LumberJack socks

I started these today for my DH. I love the stripe pattern! It does look like a red plaid flannel shirt!

Blue Stripe socks

These are also socks for my DH, also Magic Stripes yarn.

Blueberries Shawl

Blueberries Shawl

I named this Blueberries Shawl. The yarn is Handpaintedyarn.com. I love this shawl! It is just two strands of laceweight held together, a seed stitch border and the trinity stitch on a size 8 needle! So easy, I should finish this one. I like knitting it.

Pinwheel Shawl

This is another Pinwheel shawl. The yarn is also Handpaintedyarn.com. It is two strands of laceweight held together on a size 8 needle.

Braided Mischief

Pattern: Scarf Style Yarn: Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride. I think I was making this for the DH. I dunno.....

My So Called Scarf

This is My So Called Scarf in Manos del Uruguay yarn. I don't like it. I like that yarn, not the pattern. I don't know how it got to be that long without me ripping it already. It is headed for the frog pond.

Stampato socks

I have made these socks at least three times already. I am gonna get them right! I will rip these again and reknit them until they fit! I love the yarn, it is Stampato Extra Merino.

Shawl

This is a mindless garter stitch shawl. But the yarn is YUMMY! The colors are fabulous! I don't know what this yarn is, I picked it up at a LYS. I will keep this one too.

Mango Shawl

This one I named Mango Shawl. It will defiantly be ripped or gifted if I can bring myself to finish it. There is nothing wrong with the yarn or the knitting, in fact it is almost done. It is a simple Pi shawl in hand dyed yarn. It just brings back some unpleasant memories. Actually, If anyone likes this shawl and will finish knitting it, I will send it to you. It is almost done, it just needs a decorative border. Really, just leave me a comment and it is yours.
Edit: The Mango Shawl found a nice home! YEAH! It is on its way to Lorinda .

So that's what's on my needles. Show me what's on your needles.

TGIF

Pull up a chair and tie on your bib!
Time for Friday's Feast :

Appetizer

Soup
What is one company/store/corporation you would recommend that people stay away from?
This could get ugly. Do we really want to go there? Nope.

Salad
On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being highest, how much do you enjoy having your picture made?
Zero, definately!

Main Course
Besides a bookmark, what is something you've used to keep your place in a book?
A paperclip, a DPN, a piece of paper.

Dessert
Name a food that you like that most people don't.
Brussel sprouts, most vegetables actually!

JellyBean Socks

Another pair of socks done!!

JellyBean Stripes

Specs:
Magic Stripes yarn
Color: JellyBean Stripes
60 stitches on KP #1 DPNs
3 inches of 1X1 ribbing

I love these socks!! The stripes are totally random! They are so cool! Love the colors too! I see more of these socks in my future!!

I am working on the blue stripe socks for DH and I want to cast on another pair for him in Magic Stripes LumberJack! He needs some sock love!!

Wendy Yarn Socks

DONE!!!

Wendy Yarn Socks

Specs:
Opal Brasil 6ply
color #1126
Size 2 needles
56 stitches
done in 3 days

I really like them! Love the color, the squishy yarn, the speed at which they flew off the needles. And I have enough left for another pair! Score!!
Thank you again Wendy!!

You Asked for It

Felicia asked for a picture of sock toes made out of the yarn that Wendy sent, so here it is:

Wendy Yarn Toes

I really like this yarn! The picture is true to color, it is burgundy, navy, denim blue, light blue, and red. The yarn is soft to the touch and flying off the needles!
Edit: I thought I had done a full repeat, but I found a stripe of purple too after writing this!

Majc was being too cute not to put her on the blog today!!

It's All About Socks!

Today's post is all about socks!

First, I finished the Sockotta socks yesterday.

Sockotta socks

Specs:
Color #502
knitted with Crystal Palace needles size 1
short row heel and toes

I have been admiring Felicia's Jellybean socks lately. In fact, she is working on another pair. And I was walking past my own Magic Stripes Jellybean Stripes yarn thinking how cute it is. Amazingly, 2 skeins followed me to work yesterday. I was just going to set them on my desk because they made me smile. But somehow it cast itself on and made toes while I was working!

Magic Stripes

I have been wanting to start a pair of blue Magic Stripes socks as well for DH. So I took some to the coffee shop today to meet with Felicia and Kathy. And I started these:

Magic Stripes

When I got home tonight after dinner, I found a package waiting for me. It was the sock yarn from Wendy! Thank you again, Wendy! You Rock!

Wendy Yarn

I like the colors! Opal Brasil 6ply color #1126 BTW. It looks even better in person! So I will probably start a pair in this yarn this weekend as well. This yarn needs some love! I don't want the yarn to have a complex and need therapy. The yarn wants to be socks!

Seems I have sock startitis!! And that is not a bad thing at all!

Have a happy weekend!!

One Sock Done

Sockotta Sock

One sock done tonight. The other one is almost done as you can see. I like them so far. They are nice lightweight summery socks. I should have been making these earlier I know. But it is not winter yet, so they will get some time on the feets!!

Kathy moved her blog here. Check out her new place!

I uploaded some more balloon photos here. And I added some more finished objects. Click on the Flicker on the sidebar.

Enjoy.

I Love Wendy!!

Something really cool happened today!
If you haven't read Wendy today, please do so now. Then read then comments to see who won the sock yarn......

I'll wait......(hold music playing)

Ok, yes I won the sock yarn from Wendy! She sent me an email! ME! Wendy sent little ole me an email!! This is me sounding like a dork, I know. And I know that Wendy puts her big girl panties on one leg at a time, just like most of us. But still, it's Wendy!! OMG!

The yarn is cute. It's Opal. I like Opal. I have a couple pairs of Opal socks. Check out my Finished Objects section. So that is cool.

Anyway, enough of me sounding like a dork.....

I did get some knitting done over the weekend between trips to see the balloons.

Sockotta 502 heels

I am up past the heels on both socks. I like doing both socks at the same time, but I don't do the 2circ thing. Maybe someday, but I like DPN's. The circs are only on the one sock as a holder since I only have one set of Crystal Palace size 1, which are perfect for the cotton. Normally I like metal needles for wool, but the cotton is too slippery. I thought I would give Sockotta one more try since I liked this color so much. I think the other pair I knitted out of Sockotta are softening up as I wash them. So maybe I will become a fan. Regia Cotton is still my favorite of the cotton blends so far, but I haven't knit up the One Line yet.

Why were all the balloons on the ground? Because the weather conditions were not ideal for launching. We were kinda disappointed. I am sure the balloonist were also.

We did go back in the evening for the Glow.
