Let's Dine

They posted Friday's Feast a little early. So let's get down to it.

Appetizer
What are some lyrics you have misheard (such as, instead of "Gettin' Jiggy With It" you heard "Kick a chicken with it")?
This is funny because we were just talking about this at work this week actually. I always thought that "Take It Easy" by the Eagles said "there's a girl my lord in a bright red Ford slowin down to take a look at me." But when I listened to it, it said "flatbed Ford." I was shocked!

Soup
What is the worst movie you have ever seen?
"The Family Stone" was bad, so was "Flight Plan"

Salad
Using the letters from your favorite number, write a sentence. Example: Tomorrow has really easy experiences.
I don't have favorite number

Main Course
What was the most interesting news story you have heard this week?
The one about the lawyer how stabbed his neighbor. here

Dessert
Which word(s) would you choose to describe your wardrobe?
Ecclectic

Sweater Update

The sweater is really moving along! I finished the body and the bottom ribbing last night. Today I started the first sleeve and I am already halfway down. I am on the eighth skein of yarn BTW. I am really enjoying making these top down raglan sweaters! They are so fast and easy!!

Hurry up Autumn! I want cool sweater weather :)

Comments

Thank you for everyone who commented on my posts, I appreciate it!
So let me respond to some.

Brie asked:
"I remember you thinking you might run out of the main color - did you have any problems with that?"
No, I actually had enough yarn originally by half a skein of the main color. But as this was my first sweater, I doubted, and ordered more just in case. I will probably make a matching hat or socks or maybe a bag with the rest.

Leisel requests:
"Any chance we can convince you to show a modelled shot? I like to see sweaters on their persons ;)"
Here you go:

Majc read this and says that there should be more puppy pictures on the blog. She is the mascot after all!

My DH says thank you for all the nice birthday wishes.
Linda said:
"Happy BD to your hubby, he's a peach, as my Aunt Rene would say."
He laughed and said that he has never been called a peach before.

Brie said:
"I subscribed to Reader's Digest for years just for the funny anecdotes...they seem to be so good at collecting and they have wise advice, too."
My mom renews my subscription every year!

Thank you again to Felicia and Kathy who dragged me kicking and screaming into blogland. You always knew I would like it, and you were right :)

Yarn Swap

Felicia, Kathy, and I got together yesterday at Black Kettle. What a cute little coffee shop with a fireplace and comfy couches and a mountain cabin atmosphere.

We did a yarn swap! We each brought yarn that was in our stash, put it all on the coffee table, and took lots of pictures!

Then we politely divided up the loot! This is my take:

Felicia found some KnitPicks Simply Stripes in the vineyard color that I have been looking for in her stash and gifted it to me!

Kathy gave me some sock yarn that she hand dyed! (the pink/purple one in the middle)
It is GORGEOUS! This Pic does not do it justice!

We stayed and knitted for a while.
Then Felicia and I went to Table Rock Llamas.
Since I lightened my stash in the yarn swap, these things followed me home:

That is On Line sock yarn, Mountain Colors Twizzle, and a recycled silk/wool blend for DH.

Quite a busy day!
But it is not over yet.
I have been knitting for almost 2 years and I have never made a washcloth. That is usually one of the first things a knitter makes! Well, for Kathy, this would not do. So yes, last night I made my first washcloth! And a little brother, the coaster.

These are really instant gratification!
And another one on the needles.
Doesn't this look like Neapolitan icecream?

I separated the sleeves from the body of the sweater! Now it is pretty mindless except for the cable. Not too bad for one week.

Another Birthday and Some Yarn Love

Today is DH birthday!! YEAH!!
I let him pick out one of his presents - a really cool stereo for his truck. I also gave him a book By J.R.R.Tolkien that he didn't even know that he wanted! Those are the best presents I think. That is how I got the camera after all! Since he is the best knit husband and yarn enabler, he also got some yarn! The yarn will eventually be a sweater for him. He likes mine and mentioned that he would like one too. He does not ask for too many handknits from me, but when he says he likes something I find some yarn that he likes and start planning a project!!

Del yarn

This is KnitPicks Wool of the Andes in Sapphire Heather with Donegal Tweed Homespun that I picked up at my LYS last week. The main part of the sweater will be the WoA with the tweed as accent. He likes the cables of my sweater, so I will be using that same non-pattern.

knit picks

I did receive an order from KnitPicks yesterday. Here is a picture. We have the Sapphire Heather (15 skeins), Concord Grape Gloss, Dusk Gloss, and Bare Merino in fingering weight. The Gloss is lovely!! It is a merino/silk blend sock yarn. Soft, Shiny, Sensual. I love this yarn (not in the weird way), but I am not thrilled with the lack of color choices. Maybe some more colors will be added later. It is worth trying just for the feel factor. Besides socks, I can see this being a nice scarf or small neck mobius, something close to the skin would be great! The Bare is soft too! It is merino after all! And I am sure someday it will be dyed and knit into socks!

Sweater Update

Here are some update pictures of my second sweater. The color is accurate on the pic on the top. I have just finished the 4th skein. I tried it on last night and I am thinking one more skein and then I will separate the sleeves from the body. Maybe that will be tonight depending on birthday celebrations, if not, then tomorrow.

The Best Thing About a Knit Blog....

...is the pictures of course!!

I didn't want to start a blog without the ability to post pictures. It just so happened that my DH gave me a digital camera for my birthday. I didn't ask for one, but true, we did not have one. So I told Kathy that about the camera and the first thing she said was, "Are you gonna get a blog?" Felicia was even hinting on her blog. Wow, what a difference a weekend makes. So here we are! A blog, pictures, everything. almost. I still have to learn to add stuff, but I'll get there.
HPIM0008
this is a picture of my first, adult sized, top-down raglan. The yarn is KnitPicks Wool of the Andes. The main color is Tulip (10 balls)and the trim is Violet (1 ball). It took about 2 weeks to complete. I love it! It fits great, love the colors, and I learned alot from making it. It was so easy that I had to cast on for another one!

HPIM0010
This is KnitPicks Wool of the Andes in Amethyst Heather. And I love it too! Can you see the cable? The first sweater was good, but maybe too easy. So I needed something to keep my attention a little more. So I added one cable down the front and one cable down each sleeve. I am just finishing my second skein.

HPIM0003

And a knit blog would be no fun without a mascot. This is Majc. She is half German Shepherd and half Greyhound. She is 5 years old, but still has puppy energy. She is such a good girl, very obedient!!

Whew, 3 posts in 1 day! And I thought I wouldn't have anything to say! :)

Enjoy!

Leftovers

Since I missed Friday's Feast, We are having Monday Leftovers....

Appetizer
Choose one: Popcorn, Pizza, Pretzels, Peanuts, or Pasta.

Soup
Describe your personality in terms of a particular vehicle.
The Classic Mustang, 1965, red

Salad
If you won a shopping spree, from which store would you want it to be?

Main Course
Which television show re-runs do you enjoy watching?
Friends and Lost

Dessert
If you could look into the future, how far down the road would you like to see? 10 years? 100 years? A million?
I would not want to see the future. That would be like snooping for your presents the night before your birthday, what's the fun in that? Ruins the whole surprise.

Blogless MJ has a Blog!

Hello World! I have been convinced that I need to have a blog. So to avoid bodily harm (hehe), I have created one. I am new at this, so please be patient while I learn the ins and outs of owning a blog.
